Behind Kindred Home

It has always been about people.

Buying or selling a property is a significant decision, both financially and personally. Kindred Home grew from my belief that you should feel well-informed, cared for and in control from start to finish, with honest guidance, no pressure and the same level of care, attention and service at every price point.

Meet Jacob

I have been thinking about home for as long as I can remember.

Growing up in Ottawa, my interest in homes started early. My mom would take my siblings and me on weekend drives through neighbourhoods like Sandy Hill, Rockcliffe Park, Alta Vista and Hunt Club. I would look at the homes and imagine the lives unfolding behind their doors.

We lived in Ottawa Community Housing, and I often wondered what it would feel like for our family to have a place of our own. I spent hours looking through MLS listings and asking my parents to take me to see the ones that caught my attention.

I still remember the feeling of inviting someone into the home we eventually bought. It gave me a different sense of belonging and helped me understand how much a place of your own can mean.

That feeling stayed with me. It’s part of what drew me to real estate and what I hope to help others find, whatever home looks like for them.

The Kindred philosophy

A few things that matter to me.

Connection

The best relationships begin with feeling comfortable enough to ask anything and say what you really think.

Belonging

There is no single version of home, and yours should reflect what matters most to you.

Guidance

My job is to bring you the information, context and honest perspective, then leave the decision with you.

Community

Closing day shouldn’t be where our relationship ends. I want to stay connected and continue being someone you can call.

The meaning behind the name

A name rooted in connection.

Kindred

Kindred is that hard-to-explain sense of familiarity when you meet someone and the connection comes easily, or walk into a place and it simply feels right. I have always told my clients that they will know when a place feels right, and I believe the same is true of the people we meet and choose to work with. That sense of connection is at the centre of Kindred Home.

Rooted in people

Rooted in people. Guided by home. is my reminder that the person always comes before the property. I want to understand what matters to you, make sure you feel informed and cared for, and give you the space to decide what is right for you.

The story in the logo

The Kindred Home mark: an open door with an arched top and an olive branch

The open door is an invitation. You are welcome here whenever you are ready. Its arch reflects the entrances seen on many homes throughout Lebanon, while the terracotta colour was chosen for the rooftops that line many Lebanese villages.

The olive branch carries that connection to my heritage too. Lebanon is known for its olives and olive oil. To me, the branch also reflects the calm, care and sense of welcome I want people to feel when they work with me.

Cookies & Conversations

I have always believed conversations come more easily when people feel comfortable, and freshly baked cookies have a way of making things feel a little warmer and less formal. They often come with me to showings, open houses and first meetings, and Cookies & Conversations is what I call the informal gatherings that bring people together to talk, learn and connect.

Powered by Engel & Völkers

Personal where it matters. Connected where it helps.

The Engel & Völkers villa, bearing the motto Dum spiro spero

Engel & Völkers is built on the belief that luxury is personal and not defined by a price point. It means thoughtful service, strong local knowledge and attention to the details that shape the experience. Through that network, Kindred Home can remain personal while offering broader reach, resources and connections when they are useful.

A high standard at every price

Every client and every property deserves the same care, attention and standard of service, whether it is a first purchase or a one-of-a-kind property.

A strong local network

At Engel & Völkers Ottawa, I’m surrounded by trusted professionals who share knowledge, offer perspective and bring the same commitment to service. When another point of view or a little extra support would help, I know who to call.

More reach for your listing

For sellers, established marketing platforms, international brand recognition and connections across the advisor network give a listing more opportunities to reach the right buyer.

Connections for your next move

If your plans take you beyond Ottawa, I can help connect you with an Engel & Völkers advisor who understands the local market wherever you are going.

Community involvement

Care extends beyond real estate.

Community involvement is something I want to keep growing through Kindred Home. Over the years, I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, iSisters, the AIDS Committee of Ottawa and MAX Ottawa, supporting organizations that expand access to housing, skills, health information, care and community connection.

I’m also proud to be part of a brokerage that supports Special Olympics and local organizations including Youth Services Bureau and The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.

As Kindred Home grows, I hope to create more opportunities to bring people together and support the people and organizations doing meaningful work in our community.

Your turn

Now, I’d love to hear about you.

You know a little about me and the story behind Kindred Home. Whenever you’re ready, tell me what has you thinking about a move and what matters most to you. We can start with a conversation, without any expectations.
